Is it Independence Day or Halloween?
Travelers passing through Miami International Airport on July 4 were surprised to see a strange lime-green liquid leaking through the ceiling and flooding a hallway.
Airport officials said the leak, which was not hazardous, originated from a pipe in the airport’s Concourse G around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Footage shared by MIA staff showed the hallway covered in the fluorescent liquid, with guards working to cordon off the area and clean up the mess.
“The valve feeding the pipe has been closed to stop the leak and work is now underway to clean it up,” an airport spokesman said in a statement.
Passengers shared footage showing close-ups of the liquid pouring down the walls, a lime-green mess that has left an entire waiting area inaccessible.
Officials said the mysterious liquid was actually water laced with a green dye, which came from the building’s air conditioning system.
The green dye is used to easily detect a leak and trace its source, the airport representative said in the statement.
